What is Pilates?

Pilates, originally known as Contrology, is a safe and highly effective system of mind-body exercise developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s and perfected throughout his lifetime. It is designed to work the entire body, while focusing on the deep set of muscles around the trunk known as the “powerhouse.”

With the use of apparatus unique to the method, Pilates has been proven to improve strength, flexibility, posture, breath control, and body awareness.
